Advanced User Interfaces for Accessing Earth and Space Sciences Data

We describe an effort to develop a prototype database system for scientific data generated from controlled experiments or direct observations and concentrate on the user interface module of the system, which will be used by the scientists to request data and order experiments or observations. We focus on the Schema editor of the interface, which is the tool for laying out and operating on large database schemas in the form of graphs. The importance of this module is illustrated by an example schema from experiments in Soil Sciences.
