I am a Marie Curie research Fellow in the Department of Informatics and Communications in NKUA.
My current research is on question answering for monitored fuel cell systems. My main goal is to develop a trustworthy AI system that will perform early diagnostics taking into account the potential unreliability of the sensors. In addition to this, the end-user will be able to interrogate the diagnostic system in natural language, to obtain not only explicit but also implicit knowledge.
I have worked in the projects GeoQA , AI4Copernicus and TAILOR. Before that I was for three years research associate in the University of Loughborough, where I applied knowledge representation and reasoning techniques in the industrial domain (RESILIENCE and AI2M projects).
I received my first degree in Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences from NTUA (2005), my M.Sc. in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh (2007) and my Ph.D. in consistent and inconsistent query answering for lightweight Description Logic languages from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in NTUA (2016). During my PhD studies I've been working in various European projects (BOEMIE, Europeana, AthenaPlus, CARARE, EuropeanaConnect).
I am interested in knowledge representation and reasoning techniques, while lately I am exploring ways to leverage deep learning techniques for efficient and effective question answering systems in the geospatial domain.
